Work on more than just your tan

Exploring Citizenship is Oxy’s version of Alternative Spring Break. It’s your way to connect with the Los Angeles and California community in new and interesting ways. As part of the Exploring Citizenship program, you will have a chance to engage in service, learn leadership skills, and build lasting friendships with fellow committed Oxy students.

Last year, Exploring Citizenship took a look at the Japanese American Experience in southern California during the internment of World War II by visiting the camp and Manzanaar.  This year we’ll be looking at the Muslim American experience since September 11, 2001.  While the trip details are still being worked out, we will be working with the Muslim Public Affairs Council in Los Angeles for part of the trip.  Explore this website, check out the photos from last year’s trip (to the right) and submit your application for this year.  It is more than a trip – it’s an experience!

Exploring Citizenship is a collaborative program put together by the Office of Community Engagement, the Oxy Elements Leadership Program, and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life along with partners from the community.
