How to Audition for The Glee Club

PRELIMINARY AUDITIONS
Preliminary auditions will be held on Thursday and Friday, September 1-2, 2011, 1:00 – 6:00 pm, Bird Studio. To schedule an audition, sign up for a time on the sign-up sheet located on the choral program bulletin board in the Booth Hall quad, just outside the Music Department lobby.

What to expect at the Preliminary Audition:
At the Preliminary Audition you will be asked to sing a solo piece with piano accompaniment. An accompanist will be provided. Pick a piece you know well and feel confident singing; any genre piece is acceptable (classical, opera, musical theatre, folk, hymn, church song, etc.). Please bring three copies of your audition piece. After you sing your solo you will be asked to sing several musical exercises testing intonation, rhythm and sight reading. The entire audition will take around 10 minutes. Results of the preliminary auditions will be posted on the choral program bulletin board and on this website as soon as possible.

CALLBACKS & QUARTET AUDITIONS
Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, September 8, from 11:45 – 1:00 in Booth 204. All potential members MUST attend this rehearsal. The musical selections will be rehearsed to prepare you for the Quartet auditions.

The final stage of the Glee Club audition process is the Quartet Audition, held on Wednesday, September 7, from 7:00 – 11:00 pm in Booth 204. You will sing your part along with three current members on the other parts.

New members will be notified late Wednesday night. All will meet on Thursday, September 8, 11:45 – 1:00.
