Thank you!
Your decision to volunteer as a student organization advisor is a valuable one. The interactions you have with students in this capacity will likely be different than you have in other parts of your job on campus. Hopefully you will fin dthis experience as rewarding as the students do.
There is sometimes some anxiety about serving as an advisor particularly if you have not done so before. Know that you are not expected to be an expert in the organization especially at first. Your role is to help the organization operate to the best of its ability while allowing the students to be the driving force.
This section of the OSL website is designed to help you determine the best ways for you to advise your group. Advisors have different styles and organizations have different needs. These styles and needs may change from year to year or even month to month. If you find that you have questions or there are resources you would like to see added to this page, please email me at clubs@oxy.edu. I’d be happy to help in any way I can.
